Shadowing
Shadowing: it is a pronunciation-improving technique which consists in carefully listening to an audio extract and reading through its script at a time. Thus, you get acquainted with the content of the recording and the correct way in which it is pronounced. After the first listening and reading, the oral text is listened to divided into different chunks, whose original pronunciation you will try to reproduce as closely as possible by extensive practice, which can optionally be recorded.

Useful tips to bear in mind:
- Gather materials which count on their transcripts or subtitles, be them videoclips, films, songs, series episodes, etc.
- Make sure you get acquainted enough with the transcript/lyrics before you try your shadowing practice. Listen to the material as many times as you need. The more you listen to, the easier it will be for you to get the feel of this technique.
- Imitate the speakers as much as you can before you move onto another audioclip, pay close attention to their intonation, voice pitch, rhythm, state of mind... Do not attempt to make it absolutely perfect. Simply have fun as you train, remember mistakes are part and parcel of your learning process and, with the passing of time, you will realise your pronunciation improves dramatically.
